About Nitrexo | Space Thermal Engineering Company

WHO WE ARE

Our History

Nitrexo, Ltd. is a European start-up company specialising in engineering products and services.  Since its establishment in March 2019 in Cork, Ireland, it has already made its mark in the space engineering industries. A relatively new and lean organisation, Nitrexo provides reliable and quality services.

In the years since, Nitrexo has grown from a lean Cork-based start-up into a specialist thermal and thermo-mechanical engineering partner trusted on ESA-class missions including PROBA, MTG, EUCLID, ExoMars, Solar Orbiter, and MetOp-SG, working alongside primes and space hardware manufacturers such as Airbus, Thales, and OHB.

Today Nitrexo supports clients across the space, aeronautics, automotive, energy, rail, and industrial & electronics sectors, and continues to grow its team of thermal, mechanical, and software engineers to meet rising demand.

Our Expertise

Space thermal engineering is Nitrexo’s expertise. Nitrexo’s founder and CEO, Yannick Melameka, started his career as a thermal engineer in France, working as a senior thermal engineer for a satellite company where he developed his proficiency in software tools and testing techniques.

As a spacecraft thermal engineer, his expertise on thermal analysis and thermal testing, which were highly useful in the space industry, were further honed.

After he moved to the UK, he became involved in the development of ESATAN-TMS®—a thermal modelling suite–and has become an expert in 3D modelling.  ESATAN-TMS® is a heat transfer calculating system, which is now widely used by space and satellite producing agencies.

Using ESATAN-TMS®, Nitrexo builds Geometric and Thermal Mathematical Models (GMM/TMM), correlates them against thermal balance and thermal vacuum (TVAC) test data, and designs thermal control solutions including multi-layer insulation (MLI), radiators, and heaters, all in line with ECSS standards.

Yannick Melameka

Completed his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Polytech’Marseille Graduate School of Engineering, France in 2007. He is a senior thermal engineer with 12 years’ experience in thermal analysis, thermal tests, and equipment and satellite 3D modelling for the space industry. Yannick’s career began when he joined Thales Alenia Space in Toulouse, France, as Thermal Engineer Intern. There, he tested software tools dedicated to the thermal analysis of circuit electronic boards. Six months later, he moved to Cannes, France, as spacecraft thermal engineer for Thales Alenia Space with Altran. Yannick oversaw thermal analyses of SatcomBw2 spacecraft from the predictions of satellite tests temperatures to the predictions of satellite flight final temperatures. After three years in Cannes, he relocated to Leicester, United Kingdom, to take on the responsibilities of senior thermal engineer for ITP Aero, which is developing ESATAN-TMS®. He combined both his expertise on spacecraft thermal engineering and ESATAN-TMS® to provide thermal engineering technical services, answer user enquiries regarding the thermal analysis products, offer advice on the use of products, and deliver training material. Yannick then started an engineering company specialized in thermal engineering in 2013. They provided thermal engineering services to different clients across Europe. After that, Yannick and his Co-Founder started Nitrexo in 2019. Nitrexo is an engineering company specialized in delivering cost-effective solutions for thermal and analytical problems. They are developing a software platform, the Digital Engineer®, which digitalizes and automates engineering workflows. The Digital Engineer® provides industry, function, and role specific, standard methods and deep domain expertise based on user experience, at the engineer’s fingertips in seconds, and develops using a learning model that leverages collective intelligence.

Our Mission

The company believes in democratising expertise; hence, it allows flexibility in the work place. Employees can opt to work from home or on site, alongside clients.  Aside from flexible work hours, Nitrexo offers vast training courses and competitive salaries to ensure it hires the best employees.

Nitrexo is a company that promises a bright future in thermal engineering, not only for its employees but also for the teams of other companies.

With its digital assistant software AI Digital Engineer®, thermal engineers are provided support and guidance when performing analytical work and testing activities–from conceptualisation and building to project implementation. Try it now AI Digital Engineer®

This digital solution is intended to assist engineers and help them enhance their skills and expertise, not to replace them as precious human resources.

Engineering is one of the most useful professions linked to global economic growth and development. Whether in urban or rural settings, technology and infrastructure advancements in various fields such as transport, trade, communication, automotive, health, finance, and even the government and public sectors are anchored on engineering solutions.

Productivity and efficiency, which lead to the improved quality of life, are achieved through engineering designs and discoveries.

Engineering makes things happen, as it works out solutions to various operational and technical issues that have an impact on various industries. Companies, big and small, wisely make substantive investments in Research and Development to achieve innovations through the application of mathematical and scientific principles.

The Future in Thermal Engineering

Nitrexo standardizes its processes for conducting thermal analyses and makes them available to thermal engineers. Through the proprietary software the company is developing, thermal engineers from around the world can actively engage with each other.

This digital assistant allows thermal engineers to ask questions, provide comments to other parties, and share their knowledge and expertise. This in turn leads to the betterment of thermal engineering communities in particular and the space industry in general.

At Nitrexo, traditional thermal engineering concepts and principles are integrated with the latest digital technology. The company creates 3D models and extensively uses ESATAN-TMS®, a tool to accurately calculate heat transfer systems. These thermal models improve the productivity of thermal engineers and increase companies’ service and product efficiency.

The use of precise and standard models in analytical and testing activities also minimize the risks and errors, allowing companies to complete projects in less time and at reduced costs.

HOW WE DO IT:

code

An innovative and dynamic European company, Nitrexo has extensive experience in thermal engineering in the aerospace sector. Its technical expertise includes thermal and requirement analyses, modelling, and satellite subsystems.

Among the projects the company handles are those that involve the creation, reduction, and elaboration of models, heat calculation, the prediction of extreme temperatures, the validation of thermal designs and requirements, the modification of designs to improve accuracy, and other significant work on various satellite units and models, antenna, and panels.

Digitalisation of Work Processes

Nitrexo takes advantage of digital technology to conduct thermal analyses and tests. Its engineers are experts in various computer operating systems such as Windows and Linux. They are well-versed in CAD (Computer Aided Design) and thermal software such as ESATAN-TMS® (ESATAN Thermal Modelling Suite).

While it uses third-party software for its services, Nitrexo is currently developing its own digital assistant that can cut testing time and costs by around 50%. The AI Digital Engineer® discover it.
